Message from the Head

Dear Students,

Pharmacy Technician is an indispensable profession that plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of pharmacies in community pharmacies, hospitals, and other healthcare institutions. According to the legal regulations in our country, a pharmacy technician is defined as a healthcare technician who has graduated from the Pharmacy Services program of vocational schools of higher education; prepares medications prescribed on prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist; and assists in pharmaceutical activities.

Within this scope, pharmacy technicians are responsible for accurately preparing medications according to prescriptions; interacting directly with patients to collect medical histories and other necessary information; comparing patients’ current medications with newly prescribed ones to prevent potential drug interactions; providing patient counseling; and referring patients to pharmacists when necessary. Pharmacy technicians also use technology to maintain patient information, medication orders, and inventory records, while ensuring that all activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements and safety standards.

With these responsibilities in mind, we continue our efforts with a young and dynamic academic staff, aiming to equip our students with these competencies and to prepare them in the best possible professional manner, thereby enabling them to deliver high-quality healthcare services.

As the faculty members of the department, our mission is to provide you, our valued students, with high-quality education in line with international standards, and to contribute to healthcare services by training professionally competent pharmacy technicians with strong organizational and communication skills.

I wish you, our future professionals, a productive and fulfilling university life, both academically and socially.

Sincerely,

Dr. Şefika Pınar ŞENOL
Assistant Professor
